GNC News: West Point Women Networking – DC/VA/MD West Point Women in the DC
metro area held their first networking meeting Monday March 7th at
the Army Navy club in downtown DC. Over
50 women from Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland responded with interest and
35 women were in attendance. Participation by year group included women
representing almost every class from 1980 to 2009. Anchoring either end of
women in the long gray line were three women from the class of 1980 – Kathy
Silvia, Dori Turner and Terry Walters and 1LT LeShaunda Hardy who attended the
event as the only woman from the class of 2009.
’87 and ’90 were the two classes with the most women in attendance. Several active duty women were able to sneak
away from Pentagon or military school duties to join the group. The DC Geographical
Networking group will meet quarterly at the Army Navy club. Additional upcoming activities were proposed
as well to include attending military movie screenings, lunches, and getting a
group together to ride in Rolling Thunder.
